UAE the first and the oldest cooperative with Cooperative Department of UAE conducted a meeting in Head Office of Sharjah Cooperative Society.
The meeting was attended by Majid Al Jeneid (General Manager, SCS), Mr. Abdullah Issa Al Huriamel (Malls Manager, SCS) Mr. Saeed Mubarak (Cooperative Department, UAE) and Mr. Ahsan Ali Thakur (Chairperson, ICYC).
Discussing
about the Youth Cooperative and its potential aspects and what it can
do for Sharjah Cooperative as well as UAE. Mr. Majid was requested to
nominate a representative for the ICYC and for the development of Asia
and Pacific region, Mr. Saeed was at the opinion that it can be
considered and UAE has a lot of youth potential. Further on a brief view
of ICA was provided to know the working of ICA and what Youth Plays a
part in the development of it region. “Asia and Pacific Region is a
major chunk by size and the term of business and we are always looking
for opportunity and cooperation for the development of the region
through our members. Cooperative Strength does not lie in the business,
its strength lies in the cooperation of its members for the betterment
of the overall society”, said by Ahsan Ali Thakur.
Mr. Ahsan invited SCS and Cooperative Department to participate in the International Day of Cooperative for the Go Green Campaign for planting a tree or a flower anywhere in the city on 7th July 2018. To fight climate change and to present the solidarity of the Cooperative as sustainable society in UAE as well as be a part of United Nation Sustainable Development Goal No. 13, i.e. Climate Action.
The invitation was not limited to #coopsday
but also were invited to Youth Summit 2018 which is going to be held in
18-21 August 2018, Cebu, Philippines. It is a Youth Based (18-35 Years)
event, the second of its kind which is terms as “Youth Summit 2.0”, a
knowledge sharing platform and speakers from multiple countries are
going to be invited in this event.
The
meeting also discussed about Housing Cooperative, consumer cooperative,
Employee/Internship Program and others in terms of youth.
